Aviators Beat OC / Move Into 2nd Place

Posted on August 1, 2018

The intense Southern California rivalry between the Orange County Breakers and San Diego Aviators saw its chapter end for the season with the squads facing each other for the fourth and final time. The Aviators earned a 24-19 win to earn a sweep of the reigning WTT champions this season, moving into sole possession of second place in the league standings with just two matches remaining on the season.

With two nights to go in the World TeamTennis presented by GEICO regular season, four teams (Springfield, San Diego, Washington and Orange County) are still in contention for the last spot in Sunday’s final against the Philadelphia Freedoms. Either the Springfield Lasers or the Aviators can control their own destiny and earn a trip to the post-season if they win their final two matches. Springfield visits San Diego on Thursday to wrap up the regular season.

The Aviators could lock up a third consecutive trip to the Finals on Wednesday if the Lasers lose to the Orange County Breakers and the Aviators defeat the Washington Kastles. Come cheer us on tomorrow night! We need your support!
